Design Concept
JAT21 Arkitekt's concept is based on the understanding that Icelanders go to summer houses to both change scenery and rest. The design simply separates two main zones—sleeping quarters (three bedrooms + shower room) and living quarters (kitchen, dining, sofa)—connected by a corridor that also serves as the main entrance. The building is constructed with framed wood filled with rockwool insulation, reinforced with plywood, followed by an air gap and wood cladding."
